The Mirror Within

Self-awareness isn't knowing your personality type or being able to name your trauma in polished language. It's catching yourself mid pattern, in real time, while it's happening, with enough space to make a different choice. Five modules that take you beneath the surface, past the version of you that performs and copes, and into the self that existed before any of it was installed. This is the starting point for everything else.

What you'll learn
  • The story you've been telling about yourself, where it came from, and the gap between knowing it and actually seeing it
  • Your five default settings, the automatic responses that run your reactions to stress, conflict, praise, rejection, and silence
  • How a belief gets installed in the first place, and how to separate the belief from yourself so you can examine it without it feeling like attack
  • A full honest inventory of what you've been avoiding, what you've been performing, and what you've been protecting
  • How to make the first real choice, deciding on purpose who you want to become in the next conversation, the next room, the next moment the default wants to run

Course 02 · Level Two
Confidence Without Condition™

Most confidence research and teaching was written by and for people already operating in environments designed to affirm them, the people with what this course calls inherited confidence. This course is built for everyone else. Seven modules, each named after a quality you build toward, that show you confidence is a condition produced by specific inputs, not a trait you either have or don't. Once you understand that, your whole relationship with it changes.

Inherited confidence vs built confidence Inherited confidence arrives through your upbringing, your institutions, your environment, without you ever having to consciously build it. Built confidence is what most people taking this course are working with. Naming the difference is the foundation everything else in this course stands on.
What you'll learn
  • Why confidence is a condition produced by specific inputs, not a fixed personality trait
  • How to work with your nervous system instead of attacking yourself when it fires, using a practical regulation toolkit you can use in real time in any room
  • Where your self-doubt actually came from, whose voices went into it, and how to tell signal from noise
  • How to stop personalising what is structural, and claim space without waiting for an invitation that may never come
  • Why action builds confidence rather than the other way around, and how to start moving before the feeling of readiness arrives
  • How to take the internal work into the room with other people, your leadership, and your professional relationships, so it actually holds under pressure

Course 03 · Flagship
Why Are We Like This?™

A course about conditioning, cultural, generational, and historical. Why you think what you think, want what you want, fear what you fear. Eight modules, thirty four lessons, moving from history through psychology through the systems that shaped you, into identity, into reclamation, and finally into what genuine thriving actually looks like. The history is not there to make you feel the weight of what happened to your grandparents. It is there so the patterns make sense once you see them.

Bleed-Through Theory™ The strategies that helped earlier generations survive, the silence, the code switching, the hypervigilance, the overachieving, the shrinking, did not disappear once the most overt threats were removed. They got embedded, and they bleed through into how you lead, speak, and show up today. This is the framework that runs through the whole course.
What you'll learn
  • What you're really asking when you ask why you're like this, and the courage it takes to actually look
  • How history, from empire to Windrush, built the identity and the inherited rules you're still operating from
  • How to recognise survival strategies once they've become personality, including code switching, hypervigilance, people pleasing, overachieving, and shrinking
  • How to use Wrong Room Theory™ to tell the difference between a personal failing and a structural misalignment
  • How to find your Echo Soul™, the original sound underneath the conditioning, and lead with Quiet Authority™ instead of permission you were never given
  • How to rewrite the story you carry without erasing the history it came from, and what real thriving looks like once you do

08We Are Like This, and We Get to Choose
The companion book This course is built on the same three lenses, history, sociology, and psychology, explored in Romain's book Decolonising the Mind / Why Are We Like This? The book is the deeper theoretical dive. The course is where the same frameworks become something you practise.

Course 04 · Capstone
Race, Culture & Power™

Romain built this course after taking a DNA test that came back seventy five percent African, twenty five percent British, and sitting with what those categories actually mean. The most intellectually ambitious course in the Room to Lead™ library. Thirteen modules tracing the categories, empires, and systems that built the world you're navigating, and the language to finally talk about what you've felt but never had words for. This is not a course about grievance. It's a course about understanding, precise enough to actually be useful.

Works alongside Why Are We Like This?™ Race, Culture & Power™ gives you the map of the external world: history, theory, and intellectual frameworks. Why Are We Like This?™ gives you the map of the internal world: the psychology and the inherited patterns. The two are designed to work together.
What you'll learn
  • What race actually is as a category, where it was built, by whom, and for what purpose, not just how it feels to live inside it
  • How empire, knowledge, and power produced the colonial gaze, and how that gaze still shapes how you're seen today
  • How language, memory, and the historical record get controlled, and why people have always fought back against that control
  • How race, gender, religion, and the body were each mapped and policed by the same imperial architecture
  • How to carry this knowledge without being crushed by it, and what it would actually take to decolonise the world and the self
